Flyers have the 3rd youngest NHL team but i'm not sure how much weight you put in to that?

13 players 25 and younger.

Only players they'll replace in the next 2-3 years, Laughton, Risto, Hathaway, Seeler, maybe Poehling.
Laughton and Risto are good bets to be traded, either at the TDL or before the draft in June.

Flyers to raise season-ticket prices for first time in six years in 2025-26

In an email sent to season-ticket holders, Comcast Spectacor chairman and CEO Dan Hilferty revealed that tickets will increase by an average of $5 per game for the 2025-26 season. The Flyers’ governor added that this measure “is a necessary step to ensure we can continue building a team that you are proud to support and enhancing your game-day experience.”

They can't actually use that money to pay more players!

Flyers trade Farabee, Frost in deal with Flames

Frost is going to flourish away from Tortorella. not a good trade. but the Flyers aren't going anywhere for a while. so I guess it doesn't matter trading for a 29 year old.

Best aspect of the trade is getting out of Farabee contract. This is still a franchise adrift with a shocking lack of blue-chip prospects given how mediocre the team has been for a decade-plus.

Clearly just the first of several moves, whether in March or at the draft. And a fair amount of cap space opened for summer. The 29 year-old won't be on the team next year (technically Pelletier might not be either but that was already true of Frost too).

I was hoping we could get more for Farabee, but he seems to have regressed.

Frost was probably worth more, but our coach depressed his value severely.

But, as you pointed out in your previous post, Pelletier might not even be worth signing for next year. So, if that ends up being true, he has essentially zero value. I also fear that Frost will do much better once he doesn’t have to look over his back at his coach. (Yes, I realize we have different opinions of Torts).

He's a throw-in, basically, but still worth seeing if there is something there he didn't show in Calgary, just the same as Calgary thinks there is something more there with Frost.

None of it can really be evaluated until all the deals are made. Does this make it more or less likely they try to trade Laughton and/or Risto? What will they trade some of the picks for (they won't use all of them)?

The money alone from Farabee and the expiring contracts allows them to take on a big salary whether in trade or free agency.

Also, Kuzmenko and Michkov were KHL teammates, though not for very long. Another Russian speaker probably can't help though it would be surprising if he stays.

The excuses for Frost have hit their expiration date.

He is what he is, a solid 3C who is competent, solid defensively, doesn't play as fast as he skates, lacks "it" and is soft (gets knocked off the puck too often). He's a depth piece, but not a core player for a rebuild. They weren't going to pay him real money on an extension.

In effect, Farabee for Kuzmenko, salary dump and sop to Michkov.
Frost for 2nd and "B" prospect (Pelletier).
Would have liked to have gotten a 1st or one of their top prospects.

I think this signals Briere is open for business, he's finished evaluating the team, and the rebuild is now in full swing.

This feels like a bad trade, for me it’s about how does what the flyers bring back help the team in the future? Is a second round pick better than frost or farabee? I don’t think so.

the benefit of the trade is salary...which is probably worth as much as draft picks.

It's hard not to think the subsequent move is going to come sooner rather than later. If nothing else, they want to be in a position to talk to the Canucks, about either of their guys, and could make a move like that while still holding on to Laughton (and Risto for that matter) if they wanted to.

Wow, mediocre trade at best in my view. I guess the benefit is cap space, but to give up Frost for basically nothing is awful. Now you're even weaker at C.

Really the first move I've disagreed with Danny on, but something else must be going on that forced this to happen now.

If Danny is going to move those guys, then Risto and Laughton better go too because they have even less connection to when this team may be competitive.

If they keep Risto and Laughton instead, then I'll be officially off the Danny bandwagon.

Takes two to tango on Risto and Laughton. If they get terrible offers they may be forced to hold on to their cards longer than we (or they) would like.

You mean like the terrible one they accepted for Farabee and Frost, lol?

The Flyers' obsession with Laughton is starting to remind me of the Phillies with David Bell. Sure, he is well respected in the locker room, but he is an older mediocre player who has zero future here.

If they decided Frost had no future here and they better move him along, than trading Laughton should be a no brainer. Risto, like Farabee, is simply a salary dump to get out from a bad contract. Why would they be more selective or careful moving him than the younger, more talented salary dump?
