Flyers stole that win. Fedotov made a tonne of saves and kept them in it. They were being iutshot something like 30 to 11 at one point.

Funny stat for the night, Flyers blocked 30 shots, Ottawa only 14. When I saw that I knew Seeler had played and guessed he had maybe 10.

He had 0.

Odds of that are very, very low.

Well, what a difference a few weeks make. Goalie situation no longer looks so bleak seems like the coach made the right call on Michkov.

Grans up on an emergency loan as the defensive injuries keep coming. Andrae is out for a few days. Errson to the IL to open a roster spot but still expected to be back Saturday.

The one thing I'm really surprised about with everything going on is that the Flyers don't have a better infrastructure for their Russian players. Supposedly they had to tell Zamula to spend less time interpreting for Michkov because he needed to focus on his own game, Kolosov obviously had no one to even talk to in LV last year and only now, after the benching and apparent argument on the bench, have they arranged these regular meetings between Torts and Michkov with the team's Russian skating coach present. We know the Flyers stopped being able to outspend the league on players but no reason they can't do it on support staff.

Yea, obviously unintentional but he got crushed. I am surprised it doesn’t happen more often, hope the guy is ok.

All I've read was that he is responsive and is not paralyzed. I get that concern, but he was moving on the ice.

Yes, it seems like it should happen more often, but these kind of injuries are rare even when the players are trying to hit people.

That's got to be pretty hard to predict if 50% of the team that will be here in 2026 isn't here now. But they clearly have a ways to go - and just the fact that 50% of this team - likely isn't good enough is itself a demerit, especially when there is still no obvious 1C, Drysdale isn't looking like a top 2 D and all three goaltenders aren't under contract for that season.

With six picks in the first two rounds of the next draft, they may be able to draft a core which probably won't be NHL ready in the 2026 season. Not a concern.

I think the schedule all along was 2027-28.
The didn't expect Michkov until 2026-27 and figured he'd need a season to acclimate.
The 2025 draft picks should arrive in 2026-28, some play at 19, some at 21-22.
Bonk and Luchanko will push for jobs next TC, Barkey, etc. go to LHV in 2025.

If they wanted to compete now, Briere would have signed/traded for a veteran center.

Modern sports don't allow for 5 year rebuilds...

The flyers tore down the roster and are building it back up because modern sports requires quick fixes.

Of course it's just some ESPN column. I agree the timetable is not a big deal, but if they are really one of the five worst teams in the NHL over this three-year period i'd like to see the draft position reflect that.

Of course those six picks likely won't all be used by the Flyers either. Also remains to be seen if they can draft well. The person running that show hasn't changed.

Are they? I think they are doing a good job if it actually is a five-year rebuild. Which it is (this is just Year Two). I don't see where a quick fix has happened, and some of the tear-down shouldn't be finished.

Aren't they? Two years ago i would say with confidence their entire systems ranked at the bottom of the league. They currently have added some very good young weapons and are essentially the middle of the pack.

Their system depending the outlet looking at them has them middle of the pack to top 10...3 years ago they would not have been that high. They have the picks to add talent quickly. I would imagine if they can find a goalie, they are a playoff team next year.

I dunno, I see them exceeding expectations, and it's all TBD, but I don't see a team that should be adding veteran talent this year, and probably not next summer either. They are finding themselves again this year but most of the young weapons (besides Michkov) still don't look that certain to me. Starting here:

I think the Couts, Sanheim (28), TK (27) deals are the veteran core going forward, and they probably won't be big players in FA, preferring to sign their own players long-term.

They're a very young team, and will get younger, but some will fall victim to churn.
Frost is a good example, he's had every opportunity to succeed, but has to run with it.
Drysdale is getting his shot this year, but Andrae out played him before he was hurt, we'll see if Grans is for real, McDonald will probably get a look this spring, Bonk next year and so on.

You don't have to hit on every draft pick and prospect, you have to hit big on enough of them.
