Yea, a reach and a not so impressive trade in the 1st round kinda made this Briere “did what he wanted and didn’t care what others said” .
My guess is that they keep pushing the upswing of this build (it isn’t a rebuild) back. I was hoping the success of this season was going to inch the timeline forward, but Briere continues to build for a 2028 season that he may never see as GM.
It is going to take a LONG LONG time to become a contender this way. We pushed the timeline back again in the last two days. Maybe it was necessary, but I don’t think Briere realizes that no matter what he hears from the ownership they will get tired of losing long before his build is complete. We may look back at him as someone who put together the building blocks of a good team, but he won’t get to enjoy it if he doesn’t stop pushing back the timeline.
