I doubt it. He's not even a proven NHL backup, he's not going to beat out a mediocre veteran goalie.
The Flyers are rebuilding, so they can give him a "prove it" opportunity.
Plus I'm sure he's grateful for the Flyers patiently working to bring him over.

Pens lose by two and remain one point back of Flyers, Caps and Red Wings. All three of them have a game in hand over the Flyers.

Detroit should be the favorites with a home and home against a really not good Montreal. Washington and Philly play each other Tuesday.

So assuming the Flyers win and eliminate the Caps (since anything else just means they are out) what are the tiebreakers with the Pens (if they only get three points) and Red Wings (if they go 1-1)?

They'd be done already if not for the two OTLs but man, if they could have just only lost 7 in a row instead of 8.

2. Regulation and Overtime wins
3. Total wins (Reg/OT/SO)
4. Head to Head
5. Goal differential
6. Total Goals

Flyers have the first tie-breaker over Red Wings (30-27)
Pens have the first tie-breaker over the Flyers (31-30)
Pens have the second tie-breaker over the Flyers (35-34)
Flyers have the third tie-breaker over the Pens (38-37)
Flyers & Pens split the series this year 2-2...but the Flyers wins were in OT & SO - not clear if that means the Pens have the advantage
Pens have the sixth tie-breaker in Goal Differential +3 to -25

So assuming the Pens win one of their remaining games in regulation or OT in order to pick up the 3 points needed to tie the Flyers, the Pens would secure the wild-card. If the Pens win is in a shootout, the Flyers would win the tie-breaker.

If the Flyers beat the Caps, the Red Wings split and the Pens get 2 or less points, the Flyers win the wild card spot.

Cutter Gauthier signs with Ducks, expected to make NHL debut Thursday

It's a shame but not the end of the world.
Flyers have Farabee, Cates, Foerster and TK, Tippett, Brink on the right side.

Foerster probably has as much upside, not quite the sniper that Gauthier is, but elite defensive winger as a rookie and scored 20 goals. Gauthier has to prove he's willing to play a two way game, mediocre on defense in college.

Farabee (44), TK (38) and Tippett (36) all scored at 1st line rates (pp/60) 5x5 - median 1st line forward is 48th.

Brink has flashed as a rookie (163), needs to take it to another level next year.

Cates has struggled to score but is elite defensive, possession forward (xGF% 60.47% which is off the charts).

And they already have Michkov and Barkey, in the pipeline.

If Gauthier had showed he was a top six center this would hurt far worse, but Anaheim is already moving him to LW.
This team's real need is a top 6 center to pair with Frost, hopefully a two way player with above average speed.

Regardless of what happens with the Caps tonight, we’ll have the opportunity to beat them in regulation to move ahead of them via tiebreakers. The Canadiens are doing us a favor this far.

The Pens look like they will get the last word though on Wednesday.

It’s weird watching the Caps now with so many former Hershey Bears on their team. The style the Bears played last year when they won the Calder Cup was defense first and lots of heavy forwards and it’s showing now with the Caps.

At what point do the flyers pull their goalie? 7:30 remaining in a tie game and if the caps get a point the flyers don’t make the playoffs
