Johnson (4th) was the only real asset they gave up. Seeler was a balance between say a 3rd rd pick and his value for player development.
Seeler was extended b/c they need a few core veterans, with Sanheim, Seeler and Risto, they have guys to pair with young, inexperienced D-men next year.
Risto is too hard to move right now, and with Drysdale, Attard as your other RHDs, that would leave you short of experience.
Andrae, Ginning and Zamula are all inexperienced at LHD.
Bonk and Sotheran are playing great in the CHL, but could use another year of experience, then start in the AHL in 2025-26.
Look for MacDonald and Grans to pair for a year in the AHL, Grans is only 21.
They're rebuilding, there's no urgency to force feed kids right now.
Michkov won't be over for two years, they'll need to evaluate Ersson, Fedotov (hopefully extended) and Kolosov over that time period, They need to add a few young veteran forwards, especially a top 6 center, While they may draft some the next two years, they won't arrive until 2026-28, so I expect some low cost FA signings and maybe a major trade the next two seasons.
