Seeler's a LHD. But Attard is 25, time to see if he is smart enough to make it at RHD, below average speed, above average size, good shooter, key is hockey IQ to compensate for speed by being in the right position.

Seeler's role the next couple years is to babysit Drysdale (stay at home physical D-man paired with fast offensive first RHD).

It's certainly not for more than one year and I think he's supposed to be the 7th D a la Staal. But Briere seemed pretty firm about it (and Johnson too). Best case he's flippable (though he's certainly not going to be another Walker). Less bad case he costs them a few games which keeps the draft pick higher. Middle ground, he's actually decent as a bottom-pair guy and veteran. He was frequently awful late last year because he was de facto Top 4 no?

Johnson had great advanced metrics down the stretch, just that every mistake went into the net, which is more on the goaltenders than anything else. He's limited at this point in his career, but can give you 12-15 minutes a night and more if you use him every third game.

He'd be used similar to Staal last season, pair with Zamula or Ginning as a veteran nursemaid. As a RHD he's also insurance for injuries with Drysdale (coming off surgery) and Risto (injured every season).

This does suggest they don't have a lot of confidence in Attard, while Samson and Grans are destined for LHV.
Andrae will either start every game (which means they'd probably deal Zamula) or start the season in LHV.

OT I am kind of bummed I haven't been paying attention to the AHL. Would have been pretty hard for me to get to Hershey tonight but Game 6 of a Calder final would be fun with any team(s).

I was rooting for the Oilers because of the comeback, but the Panthers win makes it another team winning its first cup, second year in a row. Feel sad for Canada which hasn’t had a cup winner since 1993.

A lot of twitter smoke today about a deal between the Flyers and Ottawa to occur sometime before the draft.

The senators traded the 25th overall pick to the Bruins yesterday, which is one less attractive asset that the Flyers would’ve been interested in. The key in the senators deal was getting one of the Bruins goalies, I can’t imagine that the Flyers had a goalie that the senators wanted. Also, the senators announced the deal during the Stanley Cup final. so the senators clearly weren’t worried about upstaging the finals so that theory is dispelled.

I didn't know that was a theory, considering how many other trades (not a ton but several) were already happening during the Final. In most other leagues you just can't do it.

Weird series. Oilers just ran out of gas which is why that sort of comeback is so hard especially when Game 7 is on the road (still amazing the Flyers did it in earlier round in 2010). I respect that the Conn is for the entire playoffs not just the last round but also still odd to give it to a guy who had 0 goals and assists in Games 6 and 7. First non-goalie since Reggie to win it on the loser.

With draft order set, the Flyers pick 12 and 32nd. The Giroux pick will finally be chosen (or used in a trade). Columbus has until the end of the first round to decide on giving us the 36th pick or their 2025 2nd rounder. Personally I’d push the pick to 2025 if I were them. Then the Flyers have pick 51 for not signing Jay Obrien.

The problem for Edmonton is Barkov was McDavid's kryptonite, and at home Maurice could match him against McDavid all night. The best offensive center in the game against the best defensive center in the game.

Matvei Michkov officially leaves the KHL to join the Flyers and honor his late...

Matvei Michkov is leaving SKA.

The forward will join the Philadelphia Flyers. His KHL rights remain with our club.

With SKA, Matvei won the 2022 Kharlamov Cup and became the first player born in 2004 to play for our senior team.

With draft day tomorrow, I’ve been reading up on the prospects. Presuming we stay at 12, there’s a couple guys I’d be happy with. I don’t want Eiserman or Catton though. If they were still available at 32, take a chance but there should be other better bets available at 12. There seems to be a lot of variability with some prospects from site to site.

I’d be happy with either of those guys at 12 and I don’t think there’s a chance either of those guys dropped to 32, both are rated in the upper half tier in this draft.

Catton or Helenius would fill a hole. I'd be fine with either one. Don't want Eiserman, he'll score goals but I can't see him making Torts very happy with his one dimensional game.
