Rooting for a Carolina - Winnipeg SCF

Glad Dallas knocked Colorado out, sick of the Makar and MacKinnon slobbering by the media.

Florida - Carolina ECF would be my hope, that would be a great series. Edmonton - Winnipeg in the West would be epic as well granted Scheffele comes back healthy.

Winnipeg wins the Cup and Canada celebrates for the first time since 1993.

EDM-WPG would be great for Canada, but that one is simpler for me. Oilers losing is the only single thing that needs to happen to be better for the Flyers. Everything else requires multiple things.

Of course the Leafs in the Cup would also be great for Canada so long as the whole country could root for Winnipeg or Edmonton again them.

Jets sure look on the ropes right now, but so did the Stars.

Jets are the walking wounded now (Scheifele still out, Morrissey knocked out in 1st period) and Dallas gets Heiskanen and Robvertson back for this series.

Need to root for VGK over Edmonton, if Edmonton wins, that picks becomes 29-32.
Then CAR and/or FLA into CF finals, if they both make it, pushes Colorado and Edmonton (if they lose) down two slots.
Wildcard, Ottawa has to choose whether to forfeit their 2025 or 2026 1st rd pick.

I feel like Edmonton might finally have their act together. Hopefully the Stars knock them out next round if so. If the Jets get by the Stars they might be too tired and hurt to survive another round.

East feels like chalk but you can't underestimate Florida's experience or the Leafs being the Leafs. I want Carolina to win but they generally disappoint.

I didn't realize that was in play, that is interesting. I guess they will have to decide in the next day or so. I could see them choosing to forfeit this year since there is more to lose than gain if they put this off until next year. Last year's pick was 7th overall so they wisely kept that one.

"Ottawa will forfeit its first-round draft pick in one of the 2024, 2025 or 2026 Drafts. The determination as to which pick will be forfeited will be made by Ottawa within 24 hours of the conclusion of the Draft Lottery for that year."

So best case scenario is the Flyers getting the 1st, 21st and 22nd picks. Worst case, 6th, 24th and 32nd.

I think the Flyers should trade 6 and at least two of the the possible three extra first round picks to get up to 2. Maybe San Jose would go for that. Misa is they guy they have to get.
