Absolutely bizarre ending to the Flyers game last night in Nashville. Nashville goes up 3-0 in the second period. The Flyers storm back and score the next 5 goals. Up 5-4 with about 2:30 left in the game, Weise dumps the puck into their zone and chases it in, collides with two Nashville players and is called for a penalty. Before the play even ends, as Nashville retained possession, MacDonald commits a second penalty and the Flyers are faced with a 5 on 3 power play.
Now with just over 2:00 left, Nashville pulls their goalie and goes 6 on 3. With 1:17 left, Nashville scores to tie the game, but before the score happened it looked as though they were offside, so the Flyers challenged. They lost the challenge (it was a really close call), and when you lose the challenge, you get a delay of game penalty, so not only did the goal count, but Nashville continued on a 5 on 3 power play, and scored the winning goal with 39 seconds left.
Still, 4 points on a 4 game road trip where they played in in three of the four games against the other teams in their home opener. The good news is that they really have been outplaying their opponents for most of the games, and appear to have good team speed. Flyers finally have their home opener on Friday vs. the Capitals.
