I think what killed Hextall was Lyon getting hurt in August after a great Calder Cup performance, he was the insurance policy for Elliott and Neuvirth, buying time for Stolarz to rehab his knee and Hart to acclimate to pro hockey. When Lyon went down, it was too late to find an alternative.
