TempurPedic / Sleep Number / Other Mattresses (OT)

As we age the willingness to spend more money to not be in misery in the morning increases.

Anyone have any experience with TemperPedic? I need to get a new mattress for my lady and I, and while they are very expensive I am willing to spend a little if they really are a value. I have read reviews online but was guessing that at least a few of you have been in this position recently.

My reason for asking is that TemperPedic is having a very good closeout sale on last years models which ends on Monday, and the 30%+ off is hard to not consider.

Any opinion of Sleep Number?

Good opinions? Bad opinions? The mattress you found that was just freaking great?

I have a sleep number, but I passed it down to the kids. It wasn't a "top of the line" model, but it was better than the standard- the trouble is that it has a foam spine down the middle to isolate the left and right side, but it's a bit flimsy so inevitably it would shift around and you end up rolling into a small ditch in the middle of the bed.

The Sleepnumber mattress seemed like a good purchase at the time, but over the long run the Beautyrest mattress bought to replace it has been a dream for 4 years running (though it was nearly twice as expensive). .

That is exactly my issue with the Sleep Number, I slept on one once and it was actually painful in the middle. My fiance has made it clear that is "off the board" as she had the same experience. I had hoped they had fixed that problem, but it seems like they are still working on it as I have heard the same thing from a few people.

My wife and I bought a TemperPedic 13 years ago and it is still great. Recommend highly.

I'm a fan of memory foam but it's not for everyone (both in terms of comfort and temperature). I have liked the Caspers when I've slept on them too. Hard to just try out a mattress right now I guess.
