To expand on what my point was, as it may not have been clear, is that Fultz will have to be as good as Wade was at everything else besides shooting in order to be considered nearly that good. Wade was also able to put up his impressive scoring stats even though he didn't have an outside shot because he had a high usage rate. I don't see Fultz having a comparable usage rate because of Embiid and Simmons.
While your point that Fultz's game is similar to Wade's could be valid, I was trying to say that he most likely won't have the same impact because he won't have the volume of chances that Wade had. Also, the current NBA is more about ball-handlers, wings, and bigs than it is about set positions. While I think that Fultz could get to the basket as a wing, his height does limit that and his lack of an outside shot makes him not a great offensive player if the ball isn't in his hands. I think he makes a much better ball-handler and maybe that could work because of Simmons' flexibility, but it's not ideal as I'd rather have the ball in Simmons hands more often than not. I thought that the reason that people liked the Fultz fit with Simmons was because he could play well on or off ball. If he really has trouble with an outside shot, then that changes things.
But we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.... hopefully Fultz will return to the outside shooting threat he was in college and none of this conversation matters. The videos I've seen of Fultz leading up to the preseason were better, but IMO still weren't great form. The form on his shots yesterday looked pretty good to me.
But if Fultz is really a ~30% three point shooter, then I think it's going to be a big problem as it doesn't look like Simmons has made much progress in that area and playing them together could create some problems. Having a combination of Redick, Covington, and Saric in the same lineup will help with some of those deficiencies, but it still makes things harder than it could be.
