I'm guess we get the 4th pick and the lakers stay top 3.

I'm really not worried, I almost want the Laker pick to move into 2018.
If Embiid is healthy and Simmons is 100%, that's like adding two #1 picks to the group that was playing well after Embiid was shutdown (until RoCo got injured).
It's almost like the draft is an afterthought this year (unless we land Fultz).
Just get everyone back healthy and I think this is a 50 win team.

To me, guys like Monk, Isaac or Fox will be "redshirts", so I'm not worried which one they land.
They can join Korkmaz and a couple of the 2nd rd picks playing on the third team in practice.
Which is how teams like San Antonio has done it for two decades, gradually work in young players after teaching them the basics, instead of giving them PT without them earning it.

That would be a terrible decision for a team still developing its pieces.

Austinfan has a point--most rookies who are one-and-done players don't make significant positive contributions to their teams in the first year. If that's what he means by red-shirting, I can see it. Fultz might be the only player in the draft who can generate a significantly positive impact in his first year.

That doesn't seem like a good strategy from a developmental standpoint. I highly doubt they can win 50 games next year...

Brandon Ingram would probably be picked #2 (after Fultz) in this draft. Ingram's PER last year was 8.5 in a league where the average i s 15. His VORP was -1.1, less than a replacement player. And he got plenty of time on the Lakers.

Good one-and-done rookies don't help playoff teams (in general). We can't count on Ball or Jackson or Isaac or anyone helping us make a playoff run. I think this is what Austinfan means, although I'm sure he'll chime in for himself...

The Celtics should take Fultz, the Lakers should take Ball. Where should the 76ers go? 3 is a little high for Fox or Monk. One scenario is that the Celtics, who are set at guards make a surprise pick and take one of the forwards and Fultz drops to 3.

Maybe the 76ers could trade with the Celtics so they get the guard they want and the Celtics get a forward plus something else from the 76ers.

Ainge doesn't like to make fair trades. I don't think any GM has ever traded out of the #1pick.

Well, they certainly have options for what to do with the pick, including trading up or out for a veteran player. Unfortunately a lot of what they need to figure out is if they are really committed to playing Simmons at the point.

If you want to have Simmons play the point, then I think the two players they could consider is Monk to play the 2 or Jackson to play the 3. If you want to give up on Simmons as the 1 and play him at the 3, then I would consider Fox.

Monk probably isn't in play at 3. Jackson the favorite, Tatum next, Fox an outside chance. (Assuming Fultz and Ball are gone)

If they trade back with SAC they might try for Monk/Fox and Isaac/Collins.
