His drafting track record is not great, but most of them have been outside of the top 10.

The four top 10 picks he has made were Randy Foye at #7 in 2006, Jeff Green at #5 in 2007, Marcus Smart at #6 in 2014 and Jaylen Brown at #3 last year.

Rumors are he'll take Jackson at #3 this year.

Also, with the recent articles about Russell, I think the Lakers were looking to cut bait.

Suspect it was also a mattered of clearing Mozdov's contract out this year -- he has 3 years for $48M on his deal still. Lopez's contract is over in 2018 which works with the idea of a big signing in 2018.

Yes. Obviously the driving force behind the deal for the Lakers was to clear cap space off their books next year. My comment about them souring on Russell was about their willingness to include such a young player with an upside in a contract dumping deal. It seems like a high price to pay, but I am thinking that Russell's value to the Lakers isn't as high as it should be.

There's the contract issue with a 3rd year player, I think one more option year then a RFA salary.
So if you aren't committed to the player for the long-haul, trade them why they still have some value.

I think Jackson refused to workout for the Celtics unless they promised they'd draft him.

Rumor is that the Celtics will take Tatum and the Suns will take Isaac. That pushes one of Fox or Jackson outside the top 5.

So with the Sixers four 2nd round picks (36, 39, 46 and 50), if they don't bundle any of them to move up into the late 1st round or the top of the 2nd, I'd expect them to take two players and two international draft and stash players.

WCS is a very solid rim protector, and played decently on the offensive end after Cousins left. Hield was frankly better than expected (15 ppg, 43% from 3 after the trade),and they are likely to come away with Fox and another solid starter. Not a bad beginning.

Here is what I'd like to see happen tonight. #1 Fultz, #36 Josh Hart, #39 Tyler Dorsey. Then two euro players who will play overseas. The Sixers need shooting guards and these 2nd rounders shot over 40% from the college three point line last season.

That's perfect, he's a stash player, who has improved his game since playing in Spain. Let him keep playing there, and he might be a future trade chip.
