Trump's immigration policy. in one word, xenophobia. In two words, racist xenophobia. Now, I acknowledge that there are some people out there who somehow still believe that Trump's immigration policy is something like "Immigration is good and fine, but it should be legal immigration, controlled immigration; all we [Trump] are proposing is to stop the illegals." The trouble is, these people aren't paying attention to what Trump and his immigration guru (Stephen Miller) have actually said. Trump started this the day he came down the escalator (ignoring his racist and xenophobic behavior and statement prior to that), with his "Mexicans are rapists and murderers, with calves like cantaloupes" stuff. He's never let up - now Haitians in Springfield are eating pet dogs and cats.
There's more. Trump has stated that he would like to see more immigration - of Norwegians, of all things. Why Norwegians? I'll give you one guess. Neither Trump nor Miller has actually expressed a desire for more immigration by Aryans, not in so many words, but the message is there.
Trump's energy policy. Drill, baby, drill. Burn, baby, burn. Enact no policies to encourage a transition to renewables. Rescind existing policies that do that. Encourage expanded oil and gas drilling. Rescind restrictions on industrial coal burning. Pretend that climate change is a hoax (or a myth?). Do nothing.
Trump's foreign policy. Basically, isolationism. "America First," with all the historical meanings/implications of that. Abandon NATO. Form tacit alliances with the world's most repressive strongmen, basically allowing them to plunder whatever they can.
Trump's economic and tax policy. Extend the upper-income tax cuts passed in 2017. Eliminate the $10k cap on SALT deductions on federal income tax. Impose an across-the-board tariff on foreign goods, at a percentage TBD (he talks about 10%; he talks about 100%; he throws out even larger numbers). In effect, reduce or minimize the tax burden on wealthy Americans, increase the tax burden on middle- and working-class Americans. At the same time, create a tariff drag on international trade, which will directly impact American exports, not just imports, as other nations impose retaliatory tariffs (on agricultural goods, for example).
Not mentioned in Jazzhead's assertion, Trump's Social Policies. More "conservative" judges - people like Sam Alito on the Supreme Court, people like Matthew Kacsmaryk on the federal bench. National abortion policies that result in women dying in parking lots because doctors are afraid to treat them. Retrenchment on federal health care policies - increased consumer costs for insulin and other drugs, separate (costly) insurance pools for those with pre-existing conditions, etc.
And to achieve all this, Trump's Illegality. Thanks to the Supreme Court, Trump will be empowered to impose a lot of this arbitrarily, without Congressional action. He'll likely invoke emergency powers to "authorize" his pogrom of Hispanics. He won't propose these things and join a Congressional debate; he'll "just do it."
He's suggested putting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in charge of HHS. He's proposed anointing Elon Musk as head of a national "efficiency" commission.
Unless Trump expires, of course... in which case we'd have J.D. Vance...a man with virtually no experience in public service, or in management of any kind. A man who is beholden to a couple of tech billionaires, and who appears to have no moral grounding at all.
But hey, neither Trump nor Vance is a woman of color, so that's something.
