Good news, still do not believe the manager in baseball matters that much, but stability and consistency do have value.

Comes down to talent as always and the Phillies are still a top heavy and expensive fringe playoff team with a poor farm system. We will continue to be at a serious disadvantage to rivals like the Braves and other NL stalwarts like the Dodgers

I think the job was his even if they'd missed the playoffs but the last two weeks have made it simple.

I wonder if they will be hiring a new bench coach or just staying the course. Most of the rest of the staff seems really solid (only Long and Dickerson under contract I think). The pitching department pretty much set.

2 years seems short - if standard these days - but also happens to match Dombrowski.

Well, the guy has only been on the Phillies staff for five years, give it time.
