Yeah, that's the only thing with Girardi is we're not necessarily his first or even second choice (though I don't think the Cubs want him. And I bet we could outbid the Mets. A toss-up for him on which front office is less stable).
I agree that we don't know how good he is but he's certainly not bad. And knows how to manage stars. And would be the best long-term fit if all goes right. Dusty is probably three years and done. Buck lasted a long time in Baltmore but generally has an expiration date. Whereas I could see Girardi clicking with Klentak, and/or being kept on by the next GM if his second season goes okay (one would presume a disappointing first season if we have a new GM).
