Phils-Nats 8/19 temporary GDT

A needed win for the Phillies today. They are still only 2-4 in the last 6 games.

Phillies trailed 3-0 after six innings and were tied 3-3 after 7. Huge 8th inning put it away. Realmuto had 3 hits and four players had 2 each (Bohm, Castellanos, Stott, and Turner). Harper was on base four times (1 for 2, 2 walks, HBP) and Schwarber was 1 for 3 with 2 walks. Plenty of baserunners leading to 12 runs. A good day for the offense after a slow start.

Also another nice outing for Cris Sanchez. And 0 walks from the Phillies pitchers today

I have a hard time believing major leaguers will ride the bus for 3/12 to 4 hours. They don't even like to do 90 minutes in spring training, and now teams are letting their vets decline to take minor league rehab assignments (the Athletic just did a long article about that).

I would think charter flight, only question is can it get all the way to Williamsport or will they have to bus it from Harrisburg.

I wonder if they share a plane.

(Also realizing there's no time to take the bus if they are leaving in the a.m. as they are expected to do promotional stuff with the Little Leaguers too. They won't really get that much of a break having a night game instead of a day game.)

They fly into Williamsport. No they are not on the same plane. I don't think a plane big enough for 2 teams would land locally. My understanding is one team is arriving around 10:45 and the other around noon. My guess is the Phillies arrive first since I assume they are staying in a hotel in Washington tonight(?) and the Nats would be in their normal home beds. The teams are typically then bussed to the LLWS complex (roughly 5 miles) spend part of the day at the Complex then bussed back across the river to Williamsport and the Historic Bowman field at Muncy Bank and Trust Stadium (sorry had to add that as my Father in law was a past President of the Bank!)

I drove past the stadium tonight on my way home from visit to relatives and the lights were on and scoreboard on. Interesting they have placed a fence along the top of the creek dike that runs by the stadium.
I wonder if it is to make it safer or to prevent people from standing there to watch the game?
