Well, 70% sure wouldn't be "about half," not that I think it's actually that high. And what really matters is the entire first-tier group, not the 26-man at any given time. That is probably part of what Hayes got wrong. Three of the names you mentioned might not have even been on the 26-man at the time of the leak ("recent weeks" is really vague).

Seems like everyone - the beat writers and the front office - are completely cowed by certain players, or we'd either have confirmation they are vaxxed, a "no comment," or better leaks. And we now know Haseley isn't vaxxed. The reality is even if the team made progress and wound up with 20 guys on the current roster vaccinated, the AAA roster could still screw it up for everyone.

I am saddened by every player I learn made the decision to not get the vaccination. I feel sorry for the team, the players who are vaccinated, and the fans. All suffer from the action of those not vaccinated. Yes, the unvaccinated players are hurt by their action as well. It's a total lose-lose for them.

Those who say the baseball union would not support this are not really paying attention. Any mandate would have lots of exceptions for health and religious reasons, plus alternatives of mask wearing for the unvaccinated. But the rank and file around the country want this very much.

The unvaccinated are jeopardizing their fellow workers and undermining the organization. We are now about to see widespread return to mask requirements as cases of COVID continue to increase across the country. We should and easily could be approaching 90% vaccination levels. The vaccine is now easily available and free. Only the ignorance of the "personal choice crowd" has stopped it.

I believe this is accurate. Ireland has just hit 84% of the adult population with at least one dose, and 69% fully vaccinated. 12-17 year olds are going to start being vaccinated soon. 90% is difficult but feasible.

Just to add some detail to this. This is breakdown by Age cohort. I think the delay in vaccine rollout, along with limits on travel/indoor dining etc has led to a much higher take-up of the vaccine than it might otherwise. As each age group becomes eligible people rush to sign up. Getting to 90% will be a challenge especially with a relatively young population but we're on track. Will depend on whether vaccines are approved for children below 12.

The uptake in the UK has been similar to the US, theres been a rumour that Premier League clubs will require vaccination, I wonder if that will have an impact in those areas on men aged 20-50 or so. There are only 20 clubs and capacity varies from 20k to 75k. No suggestion that lower league clubs would require the same.

I think it's more a fear of being seen going into a vaccination site. Somebody compared it to the kind of skulking around that pro-life evangelicals do when they're purchasing a morning-after pill.

Yeah, I could see people disguising themselves. But begging the doctor to maintain their ethical responsibility seems odd. Of course, some of these people may not be the best informed folks around.
