I'm surprised it hasn't leaked yet. But they aren't going to be that surprising. Inquirer reported they pretty much match up with what the expected arbitration numbers would be.
Sanchez is the one who asked for it; he's giving up future earnings for the security and his last guaranteed year probably won't be anything the Phillies can't eat if it goes bad. Eflin made a mere $5.7 in his final arb season. Figure Sanchez isn't getting more than $7-8 in his final season. 10 at most. And no more than $3 million next year.
The options will probably be a lot higher - 14/16 or maybe even as high as 18/20.
(Oh, they have leaked. Gelb's story updated.)
The Phillies rewarded Sánchez, who had signed as a teenager for $65,000, with life-changing money. His new four-year contract, which begins next season and covers his arbitration years, is worth $22.5 million, three major-league sources told The Athletic. The deal includes two club options — $14 million for 2029 and $15 million for 2030 — to cover what would be his first two free-agent years. The price of the options can rise if Sánchez finishes in the top 10 of National League Cy Young Award voting.
So I pretty much nailed it on the options.
AAV is 5.625 on the guaranteed. Figure something like 2/4/7/9.5?
