Free agent right-hander Jake Arrieta, still in search of his next major league home, is close to finding it. A source close to the situation has informed FanRag Sports that Arrieta is now closing in on a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.

I don't post here often but this is exciting stuff. I don't know if this move means the Phillies will contend for a wild card or not but I haven't been as excited for a season to start since 2011.

It's certainly exciting. Let's hope he has a bounceback season in him. I don't really care if he's not great in 2020, having lots of $ (which they still will) and young pitching means they can stll trade, bury or replace him. And he may well still be a perfectly competent 5th starter (or injured, in which case he won't block anyone at that point).

Yes it is. We still need a couple of our young SP to take a step forward, including Eickhoff returning to his 2016 walk rate, but I give us about a 50-50 chance of at least being a serious playoff contender when the calendar rolls around to 15 September.

I remember when Nightengale said Wathan was all but hired as manager, so glad this one was right.

I do wish I'd been able to go to Vegas and bet the over/under wins this year. I assume it will change now (was around 75 I think).

Boras being Boras we never heard much details about what sort of work his players did, they didn't participate in the big camp.
