i don't know if it puts a kobosh to any Machado deal. We didn't trade any players here so could definitely still get Machado and use one of our young OFs as a trade chip.

There's also a team option for 17.5 million for year 4. Don't know what the buyout is, if any.

Really hope this doesn't mean the end of Hoskins. I'd play Hoskins in LF and see what I could get for Nick Williams. My gut tells me that the analytics guys don't trust Nick's 2017 season.

I'm sad if Hoskins is losing playing time or moving on. Santana is a decent bet to generate 3 WAR, so $20M is a good deal for him. If they believe Hoskins is a LF and they are moving Williams or Altherr for a good pitcher or Machado I feel pretty good.

Williams + Franco + Lively for a year of Machado? Too much?

That's pretty much how I feel. I prefer Hoskins at first and we are pretty well set in the outfield.
