A little disappointed the scout had Haseley as more of a fit for left field because of his arm. Was just assuming the former college pitcher had at least a right field arm.

Not the end of the world, but bad -- it would severely limit the choice of the 3rd starting OF, possibly depriving the Phillies of a big bat in the lineup. A LF-only Haseley has less value. Most of our good minor league bats are LF-1B only, and we also have an ample supply in the majors.

At least Ortiz does have a legit right field arm even if physically he is closer to LF types speed-wise.

It is not awful for Haseley - just raises the bar offensively a bit for him to be a good major league starter. At least he is probably as good in CF as guys like Altherr. I could easily see him playing a bunch of CF on a team like the Phillies especially if we like to work in 4 OFs (and Quinn might only play 50% of the time).

I'm pretty sure his arm strength is fine. It's probably his footwork in the OF is not allowing him to get into the right position to use his arm. That can be taught.

Not sure those Reading numbers can be directly translated to MLB. His OPS is not quite .800. That's not a great number for a LF and 15-20 HR/season is more left-side of IF numbers than LF numbers these days. On the other hand, the fact that he likely can play at least part time in CF is a plus.

The dismissal of Morales after the top 10 is kind of strange. An 18-year-old who sits in the mid 90s striking out almost 11 per 9 in short season ball is pretty impressive. He'd probably slot just behind Romero for me in the rankings.

One needs to give the Padres a little credit for building their system up so quickly. Combination of trades, draft, and going crazy for 1 important year internationally when a team could do that.

Sheer volume of 50/55 FV prospects in the Padres system reinforces that is who we should target in a potential Franco deal.
