Kinda think newcomer Donny Sands should be in there.

Seems like Sands is either going to be a major league back-up, a AAA back-up, or on another team, so I get why he's fringe. I do wonder what's actually going to happen to these four catchers. Still figure Marchan gets traded but not necessarily in the off-season (especially now). A long lockout could also help him win the back-up job (i.e. he'll have already done a few months in AAA like it seems they prefer).

The 4 catchers (including Marchan) are all locked out because they are on the 40. That might help a Sands actually be the 3rd catcher over Marchan because he is almost completely developed.

The younger prospects on the 40 are going to get hurt here because of missed development and eventually delayed service time.

Oh right, brain lock. So right, that gives both Stubbs and Sands an advantage but I also wonder if they won't actually end up signing a more proven veteran back-up coming out of the lockout - or even during the lockout (i.e. a Jeff Mathis type).

Ranking Brito is a surprise, and happily might bode well for his future (given that BA bases its rankings, at least in part, from team information). They might be optimistic about his progress in terms of returning to play!

Interesting to note... They list Griff McGarry as being the same grade FB as Mick Abel for best FB in the system, tied With Painter for the Best CB tool and as as having the best Changeup tool.

Ranking the top prospects for every National League team

I think Wilson and Crouse are overrated.
Wilson is LF only, so he has to really pound the ball to have value.
Crouse from what I saw depends too much on his funky motion and his stuff doesn't jump out at you.
McGarry may have command issues, but his stuff is >> Crouse.

My "breakout" candidates:

Muzziotti - such a weird two years, but he's had time to fill out and turn good contact into production
Andrew Schultz, TJ after 2019, back to 96-98, and they've been working on his mechanics to smooth him out
Billy Sullivan, another 2019 TJ guy who was slowly being worked back, 94-97, t99.
Ben Brown, another 2019 TJ, big frame who has 4 pitches
Jadiel Sanchez, switch hitting OF with 5 tools.
Jordi Martinez, $10K lefty with good velo, plus slider and decent command.
Christian Hernandez, 92-94, t97 with projectable body, change and slider
Gunner Mayer, former IF with 6'6 190 frame, 90-94 with good spin, body suggests there's more there
Andy Baker, Converted SS, overslot 11th rd, 97-99 in FIL with good spin rate,
Jordan Viars, plus plus power, good athlete

plus all the GCL pitchers like Ottenbreit, Cabrera, Pena, Ortega

Painter gets added to the MLB top 100 as some other prospect graduated, but a conspiracy theory of how they rank is detailed in today's mailbag. It just seems lazy to be confined to adding a prospect at 100 when it clearly looks that Painter will be much higher when they re-rank the whole thing in a week.

Painter, who like Volpe was a high school first-round pick who didn't crack the Top 100 at the outset of his first full pro season, joined the list Wednesday when Bobby Witt Jr. graduated and will get a boost when we adjust it next week.

It looks like Logan O’Hoppe has moved into the 100 spot on BA’s top 100. Stott is still on their list because they use AB/IP limits, but he has technically graduated on service time
