I don't think it is quite as bleak as you imply. For example, looking at the Clearwater pitching staff I see lots of good prospects who I would take before Armenta. Abel obviously, but also Jordi Martinez, Victor Vargas, Christian Hernandez, Eduar Segovia, and maybe even guys like Samuel Aldegheri and Rafael Marcano. Generally the younger pitchers in the starting rotation are the best prospects and Armenta is more a slightly older relief pitcher that changes speeds from the left side (which can get lots of hitters out). Kyle Dohy probably still ranks ahead of Armenta too since he also has good stuff and has succeeded at a higher level.
This pitching staff contains all the extra prospects that teams will ask for at the trading deadline. Big deals will probably need to be centered on higher level prospects like Marchan or Stott, but all these teams will want us to throw in an arm from this team.
