Don't know if this is crass, but I really had no idea of what type of prospect Alexis was, so I took a quick loof at his stats. What caught my eye was partial season stats this year in Clearwater had 153 PA and 136 ABs, with only 8 BBs.Wondered if he had lots of sac bunts, but no, it was 9 HBP -- so 9/153 is a 7% HBP rate. (Had a 5% rate last year in Rookie ball).
Ron Hunt's career rate was about 4% in the majors and he led the majors 6 or 7 consecutive years with around 25 per year - so around a 4 or 5% HBP rate (although he did have one 50 year which was 9%). Looks like Alexis was the type of guy, at least early in his career willing to take a plunk if it meaint a chance to get on base. Just a data point.
