I think you'd have the same level of attrition, even if Lakewood were a hitters' park on a par with Reading. There are a lot of injuries between low-A and the majors; a lot of 'projectable' secondary pitches develop, a lot of pitchers never develop command and many hitters at higher levels learn not to chase as much as they did in low-A ball. Certainly Lakewood being a pitchers' park allows fans to fall overly in love with A-ball pitchers who don't actually have what it takes to succeed at higher levels. Every organization has a ton of attrition of pitchers between low-A and majors. Sometimes, like Biddle, injury derails them and they recover and resume progress a couple years later.
