Of course the closest is the Holiday Inn Philadelphia-Stadium which can be seen from most seats at CBP.
Aside from XFinity Live where the Spectrum used to be, there's not much to do in the ballpark vicinity without looking for it. Chickie's & Pete's is within walking distance of the sports complex and likes to hold itself out as Philadelphia's flagship hometown sports bar. However, frankly, I am not a fan of the place and always found it to have bad food, bad service and a bad beer selection. It's more of a place to be seen for the big game rather than a place to see the big game. There are some neighborhood jaunts such as The Philadium at 1631 Packer Avenue (a couple of blocks west of and across the street from the aforementioned Chickie's & Pete's). The Philadium is kind of "dive-ish" but has a decent beer selection and is a good place to get a quality signature Philadelphia sandwich (cheesesteak, roast pork, etc.). You could still probably bring your family there. Also, if you want some Philadelphia pizza, in the very same strip mall where Chickie's & Pete's is located, you can find Celebres Pizza, a place His Whiteness made famous over and over again, much to the chagrin of the Phillies marketing department (see the link to the below story)!
Otherwise, head to Center City.
"And he paid homage to his partner one more time during his speech, with a hilarious story about how Ashburn, on nights the games dragged a little long, used to wonder aloud on air "if the people from Celebre's Pizza are listening."
"And sure enough," Kalas said. "Fifteen minutes later, we'd have pizzas being delivered up to the booth."
But after this had gone on awhile, Kalas reported, Ashburn was called into the office and reminded that Celebre's Pizza wasn't a sponsor, so he couldn't keep plugging them for free. It was OK to do birthdays and anniversaries, but no more free plugs.
A few days later, though, another Phillies game refused to end. So Ashburn abruptly delivered an unexpected birthday greeting.
"I'd like to send out very special birthday wishes tonight," he said, "to the Celebre's twins -- Plain and Pepperoni."
