Yeah. Not too thrilled with the comment either. This is a guy that, according to his Wiki page, was a 2 time Silver Star recipient and awarded the Bronze Star 5 times. I get that some object to why he had to do his job. That some don't feel the need to have put him in that position. But that's not his doing. And when the PTB decide we do need somebody like this, I'm very glad he was on our side.

He and Don Cardwell were traded to the Cubs in May, 1960, for Tony Taylor. That deal didn't start out too well for our side, as Cardwell no-hit St. Loo in his first Cub appearance.

Long term, it's obvious that the Phils got significantly the better of the deal. That's why I mention Bouchee.

Bouchee became an Original NYM and was released in mid-1962, never to play MLB again. Cardwell bounced around to the Pirates and the NYM, and was part of the 1969 World Champions.**

Hard to argue this guy doesnt belong in the HOF (I don't think he is currently). Not many owners have been as successful and maintined it as completely as he did, I know he had a huge city to work with, but so did the Clippers and they are a testimony on how NOT to do this (despite this years success).

That gurgling noise that you hear in the background is the Lakers' dynasty going down the drain. With the inheritance laws being what they are on a national and state level, it will almost impossible for the Buss family to keep the team. Some have suggested that they have made/not made moves to decrease the value of the team in order to get it down to a level where the family could maintain ownership.
