I did not see the 9th inning last evening but my understanding is there was a runner on first and third with 1 out. Didi hit a ground ball in which an out was recorded at first base in the meantime Realmuto scored before Bohm on who was on first was tagged out going to second base. I noticed an rbi was not credited to Didi as he hit into a double play.
If this is correct what about the next couple of situations:

Situation A----Same set up 1 and 3 with 1 out....ground ball into the hole between first and second baseman (lets say Harper was batting and the 2nd baseman was playing deep). The ball is fielded and they get Harper out on a close play. The runner on third easily scores, however the runner on first tries to get to third base and is thrown out resulting in a "double play" would Harper be credited with an rbi?

Situation B-- Same set up 1 and 3 with one out....line drive to left center field gap. Centerfielder makes a diving catch runner on third remained on the bag and tags up to score easily. However the runner on first thought the ball would get down and wanted to try and score from first. He is standing on third in disbelief when the ball is tossed back to first base for the easy double play. Does the run count and is the batter credited with a sacrifice fly and a rbi?

RBI in both cases because the DP was not "continuous".

A. I believe the batter gets an RBI. The run scored as a result of the one out recorded at first. The second out was recorded after that play had ended, and as a result of a different play.

B. I believe the run does not count (and there is no RBI). The second out that is recorded is a force play and is thus considered a continuous double play.

I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.

I don’t think it’s a force out in case B. More like an appeal play. I think the run counts.

While I know its not the question that was asked... IMO double plays should be given RBIs no matter what. If a player hits a ground ball with a runner on 3rd and the runner scores he gets an RBI... but if that same ground ball to the same fielder happens to be hard hit enough to turn a DP,, then he dont.. it dont make sense.

Why penalize the hitter for hitting the ball hard and for the fact there was a runner on 1st?

The run definitely counts in B. An appeal play or a "returning to tag" play is not a force. It is a "time play".

Here is the entire text of rule 5.08 a.

"(a) One run shall be scored each time a runner legally advances to and touches first, second, third and home base before three men are put out to end the inning.

EXCEPTION: A run is not scored if the runner advances to home base during a play in which the third out is made (1) by the batter-runner before he touches first base; (2) by any runner being forced out; or (3) by a preceding runner who is declared out because he failed to touch one of the bases."

Post above clarifies all related situations, using an actual MLB play that is very similar. Remember, returning to a base is not a force play.

I once got into an argument at a softball tournament on the Fly ball situation and couldn't convince the umpire he was wrong. I knew it wasn't a force play situation. As long as the base runner crosses the plate first the run should count.

Was At the RailIders and Mets game earlier this seAson. Although the runner made it from 3rd to home, the second runner went from second the third and idioticallyllt let himself get tagged before the other guy touched. At the time I was pretty sure the run counted the runner got tagged after the runner touched home plate.
