Yeah. I'm assuming there will be additional minor league free agency "elections" posted shortly, since there are other guys on the AAA roster who have the service time (Haley, Hall, for example).

As always, a few of those electing free agency will be resigned. Every team has a similar list of free agents and some will be signed to minor league contracts for 2025 by the Phillies.

It's important to remember that, notwithstanding the "official jargon," none of these players elected free agency. Their contracts expired (the ones that call for seven seasons of service), so they automatically became free agents. There's no choice involved.

As always, a few of those electing free agency will be resigned. Every team has a similar list of free agents and some will be signed to minor league contracts for 2025 by the Phillies.

If the re-sign with their current organization, it generally is because they lack a sound alternative. These guys have put their lives on hold chasing the dream of an opportunity in MLB. If they haven;'t received that from their current organization, then they will hunt for another where they are more likely to receive an MLB chance. These aren't vets with a successful career behind them or at midpoint, they aren't seeking to be a AAAA guy for a contender. A cheap, noncontending team where they have a chance to land significant playing time is the goal. If they do well, and they wouldn't still be in baseball if they didn't have a fair measure of confidence in their ability, they would have quit baseball.

Well, yeah but at least in the case of the first five guys the Phillies had to decide they were willing to let that happen, and immediately signed three guys who they at least liked as placeholders more than the retreads.
