When we cam out of choir practice (about 8:15 pm), the first-quarter moon was indeed brightly in the sky... but there was no visible aurora in the vicinity, or anywhere else in the sky, that we could see. Lots of ground-light interference, of course...too bloody much, frankly. Too many people are afraid of the dark, apparently.
Not to be nitpicking here, PC, but the moon last night was first-quarter, and was setting, not rising (in the west, of course). But you knew that!
