It's not clear whether the Giants pulled their offer or revised it, but if the latter, it's not hard to imagine Boras saying sorry, we disagree with your doctors (which they do) either give us what's already on the term sheet or we're walking. He still got more money than the Mets had previously offered (and presumably the Twins as well), and Correa joins a contender, so yes, it was the next best deal left (at least on short notice). I don't think the discount implied any admission that the physical issue is still there (though if it is, the Mets could make their own move).
What's crazy is he's not gonna play shortstop. If money's no object and we're playing fantasy baseball forget saying the Phillies should have picked Correa over Turner - why not pick him over Bohm?
We can only hope the Mets will still LOLMets. They certainly have enough red flags.
