Moonlight Graham was also a real life Moonlight Graham.

Matt Vierling!

this pitch was 1.60 feet from the center of the plate, the 5th-furthest-inside pitch homered off of under Statcast (2015), behind only:

10/2/15 Daniel Castro 1.79 ft
5/4/19 Ronny Rodríguez 1.75 ft
4/8/15 Ryan Zimmerman 1.75 ft
9/17/16 Xander Bogaerts 1.62 ft 4https://t.co/0jBKjx8rXG4

Tonights game against the Giants might be former Phillies night. Erik Miller gets the start in a bullpen game (though he pitched last night so will probably only go an inning). And old friend Spencer Howard was just recalled to serve as a bulk reliever tonight.

Rhys Hoskins was running on the field today and has some more strides to take in that area literally and figuratively, but it’s not out of the question he gets activated in time for a return to Philadelphia next week, Pat Murphy said.

It's extremely funny to me that some of the people taking their UK vacations for the baseball game are also going to Wrexham.

One-time Phillies draft pick Cavan Biggio (Phillies took a flier on him in 301eknowing his college commitment was solid, didn't sign) DFA'd by Blue Jays. Another hot prospect who never became a star.

The source of Lorenzen’s discontent was his prolonged free agency that extended until March 20, when he agreed with the Rangers on a one-year, $4.5 million contract with $2.5 million in incentives. Lorenzen, who was an All-Star for the Detroit Tigers last season and threw a no-hitter for the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 9 before eventually losing his spot in their rotation, had higher expectations.

After starting the season on the injured list because of a right neck strain, Lorenzen has a 3.05 ERA in 10 starts. He might be due for regression — per Statcast, his expected ERA is 4.65.

Why is Lorenzen enjoying success when Snell (9.51 ERA, two trips to the IL) and Montgomery (6.58 ERA) are not?

Jake Cave was struck by a line drive during #Rockies batting practice and was carted off while applying pressure to his head area.

Tough to tell what happened from behind the BP cage, but he was down for ~10 minutes.

 Hopefully it’s nothing serious.

Could be his last shot...hope he gets hot.

Former Phils prospect Hao-Yu Lee for whom Michael Lorenzen was acquired last year is having an ascendant year at AA and featured as today's Baseball America "Helium" selection:

Hao-Yu Lee, 2B, Tigers: Lee has been a fixture of RoboScout’s Double-A rankings all year — to the point where Dylan White highlighted Lee two weeks ago. White noted Lee’s penchant for power despite playing in a ballpark that isn’t exactly conducive to home runs, calling him one of the most underrated hitting prospects in the minor leagues from a fantasy perspective. Lee kept it going yesterday, going 3-for-5 with another home run and a stolen base. Lee is now hitting .306/.379/.533 with 11 homers through 61 games in his first taste of the upper levels. The 21-year-old has had a monster June, hitting .418 with five homers and a 1.244 OPS in 77 plate appearances

Well, at least Lorenzen helped us get to the the World.... oh, wait, that was Robertson the year before.

Name that pitcher:

3-5 in 14 starts, 1.7 WAR, 3.74 ERA

Nope, he's not having quite that good a year (3-4, 0.7 WAR, 4.12 ERA).

It's someone we might see pitch against us in July.

I wont ruin it.. Ill let others guess.. but the 1.12WHIP is pretty darn impressive

Ben Lively? Not him because he is better than those stats.

I was even less aware that Ben Lively had finally put it together than I was about this guy! The Sanchez extension reminded me of his existence, though we've also already faced - and beat - him this year.
