My guess is that just like we felt about Darren Daulton getting a ring, most Pirates fans would love to see Cutch get traded to the eventual WS winner (since obviously it will not be the Pirates).

Not about them, about him. He may just value living and working in the same city for the rest of his career more than winning a ring (and he would have preferred to never leave the Pirates at all). This is not a guy who lives in Florida or California or his childhood hometown (which is in Florida!) and then goes wherever his team is during baseball season. This is a guy who still lived in Pittsburgh when he played for the Phillies (and all the other teams too).

I hadn't realized he was only 33! I guess I had a hard time realizing that because he hasn't pitched for the Phils in almost nine years. This was definitely a case where the Phils had him for exactly the right time (although he was also quite good in 2019).

He was quite good in 2017 too and a big part of that World Series team - just not in the actual playoffs.

I'm guessing the Phillies actually won that trade WAR-wise but that was to be expected given both the volume and that a fringe starter can still out-contribute a reliever (at least in WAR).

Left-handed reliever Matt Moore and the Los Angeles Angels are in agreement on a one-year, $9 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Moore joins the recently signed Robert Stephenson, plus previous free agent signings Luis Garcia and Adam Cimber, in a completely overhauled bullpen.

Pretty good deal for Rhys. Might as well lessen the risk of a 1-year deal and get some guaranteed earnings. Timing of his injury really cost him some money, because if he had a healthy 2023 that was similar to 2022 he probably gets something like 20 million a year for 4 years.

Right-handed reliever Hector Neris and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a one-year, $9 million contract that includes an option for 2025, a source familiar with the deal tells ESPN.

The $9M team option converts to a player option at 60 games. Total max w incentives: $23.25M.
