Vierling produced for the Phillies and likely will continue to be a valuable player for the Tigers. DD judged the value of a LH reliever to be greater to the 2023 Phillies than Vierling and the others traded to Detroit. He may be correct, but that doesn't mean the package going to the Tigers was not of solid value. I wish all the players the Phillies trade have success in their new homes. It would also be nice if Soto gives us a solid season.

I know there are several posters who hoped the Phillies would sign Ruf, but I don't think he would have worked out back in Philadelphia. We will never know.

Well, it's a minor league deal (and of course he's already getting paid regardless). Probably he doesn't have that much left, even as a pure platoon player, but in any case the Phillies didn't think it was worth a 40-man spot - nope not even Pache! - to find out (and if one opens they should probably give it to Kingery at this point).

Really a shame for O"Hoppe. He has established himself as a major leaguer and should have many good seasons in years to come. I really hated to see him traded last year. However, I cannot argue that the acquisition of Marsh was not good for the Phillies.
