It's a legitimate question! I don't think so.

First of all, he knows he isn't really ever getting forgiven/getting in. This is a guy who charges to sign things "I'm sorry I bet on baseball."

Second of all he is still an alleged statutory rapist which is why he isn't on the Phillies Wall of Fame and got fired by Fox (Fox! Have you seen some of their other entertainment products? And I'm not even talking about the so-called news outlets, but that too).

Casinos and companies like Barstool may still have a place for him but he's never going to be mainstream. I also don't think he would even get in the Hall of Fame is Manfred unbanned him at this point.

It's hard to imagine his moving back to SS, if that's the Marlins' plan, but he's still a pretty good hitter.

Two years, $17 million... which is also what the Phillies would have had to pay him for one year had they exercised the option.

His offensive numbers were really not that good last year (.723 OPS 104 OPS+) so one year older and at a more challenging defensive position is probably not a pretty picture. I suppose he could also DH some if they have any glove-first type options at SS a few days a week.

I imagine they want Chisolm to play SS. He has great range. Just made too many errors in his initial appearances to displace Rojas. He was almost exclusively a SS in the minors.

Edit - looks like 3B for Segura with Rojas still starting. Pretty weak offensive lineup.

Quinn is someone I definitely would have been happy with the Phillies signing to this deal.

Our depth need is probably more LF and RF especially with Bryce out. Since we are already comfortable with our CF platoon we might as well position Rojas as the next man up since he is already on the 40 (or Muzziotti if the injury is sooner).

With his past health issues, what does Quinn have that Rojas doesn’t? I have always had high hopes for Quinn but he can’t play while sitting on the trainer’s table. Rojas has a major league glove and almost as much speed as Quinn. Not really sure who is the better hitter.

I'm sure the Phillies will still bring in their minor league invite guys, they just don't have to be nostalgic.

They also have Dalton Guthrie and Jake Cave already on the 40.

MLB experience. Also a guy who will benefit from new pick-off rule. Rojas needs AAA time. His time is later this year or next year. I'm not saying Quinn is likely a long-term answer, but certainly a guy it would have been nice to have on a minor league deal with a ST invite.
