I think it's moot at this point. Gambling is MLB-approved (you can even do it at the ballpark, both on your phone or in some places at an actual sports book). But that does not erase Pete's sins (nor is what he actually did back then within MLB's rules now).
Honestly, this is Pete's brand now. To complain that he can't get reinstated on the one hand while doing stuff like this on the other. For most of his "clients" (gambling entities, autograph shows, memorabilia dealers in Vegas and Cooperstown) it's good for business. It's just not going to get him what he really wants (which he knows) and it's a bad look when an MLB team (ahem, the Phillies) lets him do stuff.
