Yeah he wasn't even that good when we got him (despite blowing fewer saves, on a bad team) but he was still needed at the time.
I think we are going to miss Hector. Durable, consistent (including the bad stuff), underrated and seemingly well-suited to non-closer role (which becomes even more valuable if the manager isn't married to the roles). On the list of veteran relievers we've had to suffer through over the past four seasons I'm pretty sure he still rates as the best - and healthiest one.

As painful as it is to see Mead potentially blossoming for the Rays (and not the Phils), it's far too soon to conclude the Phils lost this one.
But also easy to assume Sanchez is more likely to be the next Medina than the next Suarez.
Such is the nature of dealing away lottery tickets, but when a team like the Rays decides they don't have room for someone on the 40, and likes one of your guys, beware.
This might be a painful read for some, but still interesting.

Meet Curtis Mead, the latest Rays prospect to come out of nowhere — or, in his...
If Mead’s pace doesn’t slow, a big-league debut this year or next appears likely.
Finally gave this a full read, well worth it if you subscribe. Interesting as well as frustrating. In some ways it is as simple as, the Rays devote more time and energy to scouting young players on the back fields, and liked what they saw. But they also did rate Sanchez pretty highly. And Mead gives the Phillies (including Ochart) a lot of credit for starting his development (though he also said he could tell he wasn't a priority, whereas Tampa made him one).
