My guess is that the Phillies just used too much of that trusty old trainer's liniment, Atomic Balm! The radiation from the Atomic Balm caused the cancer. (If it's got "atomic" in its name, you know it's radioactive, right?)

Per this source, it was marshland before it was the Vet. Of course, back in the old days, people used to dump stuff all the time in any open space so I suppose the possibility exists that someone may have been dumping bad stuff there.

My aunt and uncle used to live at Juniper and Geary before the Vet was built. We could see smoke rising from little piles there. The adults called it "the dump."

I have seen him around town, but not lately. You wouldn't know him due to brain surgery and maybe chemotherapy he is now bald. Last time I saw him he looked weak and hardly able to get around. Last I heard, he was living in Island Estates just off the causeway going to Clearwater Beach. Seeing him is a stark reminder of how fragile we all are..

A fair question but who knows. Do they ever sign Revere? That was certainly a miss on the Phillies part but the difference between the team then and the team that got Herrera obviously huge.

HOF voters are members of the media. Blasting members of the media is not smart. If he gets in, it will probably be the Veterans Committee that votes him in.
