me too!!
Crawford promotion timed to get an extra year of service time. He will probably be eligible for Super 2 status in arbitration after next year. Then not a free agent till 2025 if he stays in the majors.
So who is Shed Long anyway?
I hope Crawford can do well. I had hopes he would be a starter in Philadelphia for the long term but now that he is gone, I still would like to see him succeed.
Anthony Gose has been continuing his efforts to become a pitcher at my Lynchburg Hillcats (High A Indians affiliate) after his hitting was not sufficient after a few years in the majors. He hits the mid to upper 90s with his fastball (high 97 last night) but also has a changeup and curve which are less developed. He has worked out of tight jams in the few games I have seen him pitch. Still with a few more walks than I hope but if he makes strides this year he is young enough for a shot. Last year his efforts at highA were good but fell apart at double A Rangers. I wish him well. Part of the Roy Oswald trade that was flipped to Toronto the same day. Made it to the majors with Toronto and Detroit.
I would have liked to see Altherr make it though waivers and end up in LV, but in reality, this is probably best for him.
D'Arnaud on the move again. After a brief stay in LA, the Dodgers trade him to the Rays.
OT but worth it: there was a whole podcast about him
(New/backstory, if you subscribe to the Athletic).
Altherr sontantalizingly seemed like a player so many times and then disproved more. Wish him well, hope we don’t end up regretting this, but I don’t think that will be the case
A lot of Phillies stuff in here of course
Sixto Sanchez with a great first outing with the AA Jumbo Shrimp - 7innings, 1hit, 1BB, 7Ks. Still make the trade, but it will be fun to see what he becomes. Sorry don’t remember my tutorial on how to make a link. I read more than I post
Ok easier than I thought...
Braves DFA Jesse Biddle
Padres call up Cal (son of Paul) Quantrill.
Paul wasn't very good for us but the actually had a very solid 14 year ML career.
Altherr gets 1 AB before yet another DFA:
Jesse Biddle joins the list of Former Phillies in Seattle.
Just tuned in to the Red Sox game, and one time Phillie farmhand Jimmy Cordero came in to pitch for Toronto. I think they said it was his first appearance for the Blue Jays.
Cordero lasted one outing with the Blue Jays.
I’m really glad for Aaron.
Yeah, I heard about that on the broadcast last night. The grin on his face in the photo in the article is priceless.
