And our periodic Willians Astudillo update:
Whaat?! One must always read the small print
From the article: "On an otherwise ordinary day in Venezuela, a pitcher named Rick Teasley became the first person to ever strike out Willians Astudillo twice in a game." That seems amazing!
Quick--sign Teasley! Get him while he's cheap....
They actually had an interview with that pitcher on Fangraphs Effectively Wild Podcast recently, he didn't know much about Astudillo other than he was known for not striking out much.
According to MLB Trade Rumors, "The Dodgers signed outfielder Cameron Perkins to a minor league deal with an invitation to their big league spring camp."
". . . stop the game, flash it on the scoreboard . . . tip your cap and both dugouts stood on the top step and applauded . . . "
Thank you, el-pietro!

Who da MAN?!
I'm off to bed, now; feelin' good!
Former Phils reliever Luis Avilan signs a minor-league deal with the Mets:
Will Middlebrooks announced his retirement.
How old is he? Or is he retiring because of his injury?
He's 30. I don't think the injury is career-ending, probably more like he doesn't want to be a AAAA player.
This is what his wife tweeted:
That's unfortunate, though it's hard to imagine he was ever gonna crack the show again anyway. I wonder if the Phillies are interested in hiring him (in minors or front office).
Meanwhile, Drew Hutchison, minor league deal with Yankees.
Cabrera to the Rangers. 1/3.5
Former Phillies Rule 5 draftee Tyler Goeddel has signed with the Nationals. Hope he makes the the team, I would gladly trade Goeddel for Harper!
Next post here should be a new thread for 2019.
Justin DeFratus re-signs minor league deal with LA as a starter
