I guess all that means is he gets to enjoy the major league perks during spring training, and then will stay down there while collecting a AAA salary until he's actually ready to pitch. Wonder what his major league end might actually look like. Or if he'll be tradeable by the deadline.
Still think we might regret just cutting loose a decent reliever with another year of controllability but obviously no way the cutting-payroll Phillies were gonna risk $4 million on him for a half-season. And it's a buyer's market. I wonder what Alvarez will actually get (whether from us or someone else).
