It's pretty astonishing to me just how bad Cameron Rupp must have been in retrospect that he never even sniffed a back-up job or cup of coffee again in the last three years. Imagine if Knapp had spent even one season as our starter.

If we are real gluttons for punishment, Jake Diekman has 7.2 scoreless with 11 Ks.

Diekman was always a bigger talent and definitely someone I would have liked to trade for or sign again, but it's especially galling - though maybe not surprising - to see last year's fungibles thrive while our new fungibles flop. You could honestly do worse than to make your sole scouting philosophy, find the guys coming off bad years (and not overuse) and bet on their bounce-back, but to some extent that's what they already did, just with other people's non-tenders and DFAs instead of our own.

Another thing not to like about Klentak--he definitely has an aversion to bringing back guys who were here before. I think Nicasio is the only one.

Didn't we have Nicasio for like 24 hours? Not sure that really counts.

Nicasio was one of his better moves, a sneaky post-waiver pick-up that he flipped for something else. It's still not clear to me whether bringing him back in the Segura deal meant they liked him or they simply had to take his salary.

He also brought back Neshek. And now Hunter though he didn't play for another team in the meantime.

I would not say a willingness to bring back players is an asset for most GMs. Certainly not Phillies GMs!
