Time to flip him back to Reading or Clearwater to get him on track. It is not like he had a lot of time at Reading anyway as well. It was a somewhat aggressive promotion for him this year.

Romero was moving up the ladder very nicely but suddenly and abruptly has hit a wall here in 2019. Makes you wonder if he's healthy. When a pitcher drops off so suddenly and dramatically, it's not uncommon for an injury to be the cause. Having said that, he didn't exactly set the world on fire at Reading last season.

He only had 18 starts in Reading last year because he had an injury (non-arm I believe) in the last month. His season also had 2 half's with a slow start followed by a nice finish. He only had 10 starts in less than a half season at Clearwater the year before also. Given that he only had one good 2-month stretch at Reading last year I was expecting him to start there this year anyway. He is not a guy with dominant stuff, so any loss of command at an upper level can be problematic.
