Carlos De La Cruz is not having a great year, but he is at least having a year where he is becoming a more interesting project. The double jump to Lakewood has led to mediocre results as expected. But his BB rate is steady and the K rate is down a bit. A 19-year-old would be expected to have a much higher K rate. The drop in power is also to be expected in Lakewood.

I might still send him down to Wiliamsport when that season starts, but I think he is progressing to the point where he is legitimately one of our top 30-50 prospects. When was the last non-drafted high school free agent who did that for the Phillies? Nobody I can remember.

Parkinson with another dominating start in AA, 9 Ks in 6 IP, only 1 ER. JD Hammer with 2 perfect IP and 3 Ks in his AAA debut; gets a win, too. CRandolph had a 3-hit game, needs to put a couple more on top of that one. CLW game back and forth, now 7-7 in the 10th.

Ashby was undrafted out of HS but Ricky was out of a small college (Central Connecticut St). It is definitely rare as most players worth signing out of HS will go to college first if they are undrafted. And the draft used to be much longer of course.
