I feel thoroughly vindicated in my pre-season take that Clearwater was the team to watch.

Ortiz has now been a 780 OPS guy in both May and June which is not awful at age 20. I do worry still about the defensive projection as his early career speed seems mostly gone. He'll need to be an 850 OPS guy in the majors minimum to be worth the defensive cost.

But there is at least a glimmer of something going on, kind of like what Moniak showed in the 2nd half last year. Enough to advance, but not enough to see a regular major leaguer yet.

Ortiz has 5K in his last 40 PA, that to me is as encouraging as the HRs.
He's still only 20 years old in Clearwater.

Zack Warren’s curve is a nasty, nasty pitch. Kershaw-esque. Needs a little more consistency and then he’ll shoot to the big leagues.

By the way, if you blinked you missed it but for a nano second, Bohm seemed to have another home run. I know because I was refreshing the scores and it suddenly said that Clearwater had taken a 9-7 lead on a Bohm home run with a runner on. Then it changed back to 7-7 and finally indicated Bohm had popped out. Perhaps it was initially ruled a home run, then was changed to a foul ball.

At any rate, Ortiz homered shortly thereafter, Bohm got another hit later in the game and Clearwater won the game. But Bohm seems to have been thisclose to a 3-4 night and yet another dinger.

Moniak in June: .303/.378/.455 for an .833 OPS he's better on the road and against lefties (surprisingly).

Darick Hall in June: .250/.338/.617 for a .955 OPS

Josh Stephen in June: .298/.389/.489 for an .878 OPS

Bohm almost 1.000 OPS in June.

It's been a while since I've seen him (Lakewood), but when Ortiz is right and seeing the ball well he can be a presence. The ball does sound a little different off his bat.

Ortiz is currently 4th in HR's in the FSL

He's hit 9 HR's since 5/15.

265/328/575 with a 903 OPS during that time.

Let's hope he finishes strong.
