Ahhh, love summer since I am home more and can fully digest the minor league box scores. To wit: nice comeback win by Clearwater today, they have been playing well lately and Haseley with 3 more hits today, inching towards the magic .300 mark.

Speaking of .300, Pujols remains above the mark, Listi waaaaaaay above the mark and Hernandez at Reading staying steady. By the way, anyone else notice that the Phils are moving Hernandez around, has played CF often over the past two weeks or so. This tells me they like him and are seeing just what they have in him for the future.

Llovera pitched great, no decision; Hammer was awful, got the win. Hammer has been really disappointing so far this year.

Walding walks it off for the Iron Pigs with a 2-run, 2-out single. Stewart with a brilliant 7 IP start for Lakewood, although few Ks. Lakewood now playing .600 ball. 1.5 games out of first place. Ortiz with 2 more hits.

Llovera is very inconsistent, but has great stuff: 95-96 fastball, a high 80’s change up and a knee-buckling breaking pitch in the low 80’s (according to baseball Ross last year).

Watch out for Ortiz, .158 in April, .304 in May, .378 so far in June.
Starting to look like a kid where the light has gone on, and remember, he's 19 years old in Lakewood, won't be surprised to see him in Clearwater by August.

I think he was clearly hurt or having trouble seeing in April. May and June are the real guy--he started hitting immediately after coming off the DL.

Also it was his first cold weather playing experience ever. Don't underestimate that little adjustment in a bad hitters park.

I think he has always had a pretty advanced idea at the plate for his age. He also is probably going to need a major adjustment of being pitched around. I am guessing that the past two years pitchers might have been more aggressive going after him and now he sees much more offspeed stuff. The life of a power hitter seeing 2-3 good pitches to hit a game can be challenging.

Dohy was 94-96 mph with wicked angle. The announcers call his offspeed a changeup, but it moves so much it looks like a breaking ball, like when Hamels was able to cut his change. No point in keeping a guy like this low A.

Dohy has walked 16 batters in 31 innings. I'm thinking that lack of command will get exposed if he moves to higher levels. Working on it in Lakewood seems ok to me.
