andyb, Squire, anyone...was Nicolas Torres one of our high International signees? Can't remember, but seems like he was. Sure hope so, he looks quite good.

Yes. I remember him being one of the 6 guys who were were notable in that 2016 class. There was Morales and Brayan Gonzalez as our top 2 and then like 4 guys in the next tier that included Torres and Juan Aparicio

Yes, Torres was our 3rd highest bonus ($665K) in the 2016 J2 class after Francisco Morales and Brayan Gonzalez. Offense-first middle infielder who was in DSL last year (likely because Gonzalez was ahead of him).

Note also Juan Aparicio ($475K) was our 4th highest bonus in the class and is also doing pretty well at GCL (catcher).

He picked off a guy at first too (50% on the young season). Remarkably similar profile to Duran- similar size, exceptional athleticism, very good arm, low walk rate. Marchan may just be a little better hitter for average right now where Duran has filled in and has more power.

Can't evaluate draftees until they have gone through FIL and full ST in Phillies organization. For now they are basically just continuing what they did in H.S./college and acclimating to professional baseball.

Many of us are scarred by our perceptions that the Phillies' 3 most recent 1st round picks are all either wasted picks or at least missed opportunities. Small sample size, but you haven't quite got the bat going yet either. While it is impressive that you have only struck out 3 times in 36 at bats, some hits - preferably extra base variety - would help us feel a little hope.
