He's 20, turns 21 in November, is succeeding in high-A ball with a 750-ish OPS and a 200+ ISO. He needs to improve his contact rate and pitch recognition to advance successfully, but lots of guys his age get better. He's going to need to hit pretty well to make it to MLB given his defensive limitations. I'd say he's at least a B-level prospect. Probably in the teens for our organization.

He's definitely a prospect. With the type of power he's been showing and his age, he really needs to get himself on base a little bit more to be a quality prospect.

That's a good amount of HR's for Clearwater.

Seabold pitching well for Clearwater. I wonder if they jump him all the way to AAA now that he has most of his rehab out of the way. Not sure he is much of a prospect, but assume he could be in the mix of AAAA starters next year and he does not need to be on the 40-man roster yet (till after next season). I'd like to think the power production is a product of working with Orchart's team and that improvements will continue, but 100ks in 277 ABs...ooff, I don't know if that's surmountable to become a legitimate big league prospect.

For Ortiz the 100 Ks are in 291 AB and 322 plate appearances. It is high, but also not abnormally high in this day and age. FWIW, the 3-outcome player is something being developed these days. He is probably close in value with Moniak these days for all that defend him. Same age versus level. More offensive value balanced by less defensive value. Neither is a top 100 prospect even if they are both probably in the 8-12 ranking range with the Phillies.

Andrick Nava keeps hitting at GCL. Remember he is a 17-year-old catcher, so this is pretty rare, especially for someone who did not get a large bonus.

There is a difference between defending them and you essentially painting the most negative picture that is possible.

You look at age and level and others add development to the equation. I know you enjoy the role of wet blanket while others are making observation of what is happening.

Not sure that the consensus scouting evaluation on these prospects is "the most negative picture that is possible". When have I said someone like Moniak is not a good prospect? The answer to that is never. He is not on a path that one would expect of a 1-1 overall pick and not currently a top 100 prospect in baseball (both in my opinion and the consensus industry scouting opinion). But someone who could make the majors and still be a decent regular is still a good prospect.

Read my posts. Don't mischaracterize them. I have not seen a scout say Moniak is going to be an above average regular, much less a potential all star, in a long time.

I have said somewhere between 4th OF and average regular. That is the consensus opinion. You do realize that above average regulars tear up the minors with age appropriate performances in the 800-900 OPS range all the time. At age 21 Nick Williams put up an 845 OPS (876 in Reading). Moniak is better defensively, but worse offensively and at no point did I ever consider Williams to be a likely above average regular either.

It seems you are more willing to criticize my comments, than to actually look at comparable prospects and the industry consensus. Are you expecting Moniak to be a top 100 prospect this offseason? Is there a reason anybody should expect that? When I say he is 8-12 I am probably saying he is top 200-300. Still a good prospect. But not top 100.

Example - Here is the Fangraphs scouting report from him before 2019: "There's still a chance for a solid regular here, with fringe-to-average offense and defense in center field, and his age vs. level masks his ability a bit, but we'd like to see what changes are made in 2019 before totally buying in."

He might have improved a bit since then, but his #11 current ranking in the organization is probably not going to change more than a few places.

I mentioned Wingrove before, but keep an eye on him.
19 years old in GCL, but Australian who has made huge strides this season in terms of contact from last season when he came over at 18. That kind of progress suggests a quick learner - I expect a promotion in the near future.
And huge is the right word, 6'5 260.

If it turns out Australia is a good source of baseball talent we are very well-positioned. We have perhaps the largest MLB presence in that region. Glogoski and Wingrove are both from that region (I think Glogoski is from NZ).

Probably too big to stay behind the plate. I don't think there has ever been a catcher much over 6'2".

Modern catchers seem to be around 6"0" or smaller.
