Nothing like signing a washed up 3B (Plouffe) to light a fire under him. Or maybe they'll need a AAA 3B if Walding gets promoted at some point.

Yes, Haseley looks like he might be figuring out how to at least hit for average. I still like Darick Hall for his power on that team. Haseley worries me; only 2 walks in 71 ABs. Hope that gets better--don't I remember him being patient in college?

I noted a week or two ago about Cozens drawing a couple of walks in one game, and have continued to follow his performance. I must confess that I didn't expect him to follow-on from Reading to Lehigh. However, in his dialogues with Austinfan, andyb has continually reminded us that Cozens' raw power is a serious tool and his prospect status should be maintained for the time being. (Hope I've correctly paraphrased andyb's argument.) It's still pretty early in the season; nevertheless, the signs are promising . . .

It looks like Ramon Rosso is pitching another good game for Lakewood. At age 21, can he be regarded as a prospect at Lakewood?

Rosso is a prospect, he's had one of those weird career paths. Signed by the Dodgers out of Spain (Born in DR), released in 2016, and signed by the Phillies. Big body, 6'4 230, didn't show great velocity 89-91, t93, slider and marginal change. Given his body, I want to see more current scouting reports, Phillies have had success reworking mechanics on some pitchers. His performance since joining the Phils organization suggests they've been able to rework his stuff.

Rosso is more than a non-prospect, but to be clear he does not have great stuff so he is not system top 30 material either. With his stuff he could be another Jose Tavares type if he keeps the performance up at upper levels of the system. Markham is 24 so is not a breakout prospect either. Just an older player making the team better.

Andy, I don't think it's clear yet that Rosso isn't more than we credited him for previously. Rumor is that the Phils' staff modified his mechanics in the Dominican last year and unlocked some pretty nasty stuff. His results are sure very impressive..I guess the question is whether or not he can develop further, or whether he's just reached his ceiling early.
